Big Brother – This Bud’s For You

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Big Brother is back, except this time he’s drinking beer and watching football.
The premise: 32 football fanatics from 32 countries under one roof in South Africa. Together they watch the games…then they share their thoughts, feelings, the glory, the pain, the shame…all for the world to see on a dedicated YouTube page.

As teams are eliminated from the tournament, the corresponding contestants are evicted from the house. The last man (or woman) standing will attend the World Cup Final and present the Budweiser-sponsored “Man of the Match” trophy.

In addition to Budweiser’s social media efforts, the campaign is supported by impressive global ad buys, including TV spots in 20 countries, all driving users to the Bud United site.

Cheers!

Clever film for a fictious “app” by three Danish students for Cannes young talent entry.

The Man Who Walked Around The World

Friday, May 28th, 2010

A lovely short-film for Johnnie Walker produced by BBH.

The film features Robert Carlye, a famous Scottish actor, who has appeared in dozens of films including “The Fully Monty” and “Trainspotting”.

This won, best in show in the 2010 One Show Awards a couple of weeks ago.

Cheers!

Last year Philips took the Cannes Film Grand Prix for its “Carousel” short-movie below.

Now they’ve followed up this mini-film idea with a series of five mini-films…. “Parallel Lines” by Philips and Ridley Scott  Associates.

Here’s the official teaser:

And the trailer ….

And the films.  Bold stuff.

And the sixth film?

Are you one of the “people of the internet”?

The Beeb might not take paid advertising, but they do promote themselves.  Good on ‘em!

Best of The SuperBowl?

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

The jury is still out on the best of 2010 SuperBowl TV advertising.

Last year, maybe thanks to the depression of the recession, it wasn’t that fun a session.

This year, its a bit better but not too many brilliant pieces.  I confess I’ve only seen about 3/4 of them so far. So maybe I’m due a pleasant surprise, but the best of the show so far, at least for me, is this really simple spot for Google.

The Big Idea My Brother Inspired

Monday, February 8th, 2010

No, not mine but Jamie Heywood’s.

When Jamie’s brother Stephen was diagnosed with ALS, a fatal, progressive degenerative paralysing disease, they jointly founded a Social Medical site www.patientslikeme.com

Through sharing the symptoms of major life-changing illnesses, treatments, personal stories, the brothers have founded a genuinely helpful knowledge network.

What a good use of techmology and what a good use of an illness, to help others.

Above, you can see a summary film (though its 16 mins long) that Jamie gave to Ted Talks.

This film was posted less than  a week ago.  As of that time,  45,000 patients, people, treatments, records had  signed up.  Great stuff.

Thanks to Abdulmohsen at JWT Saudi Arabia for sharing this.

I’m impressed

Once in a while, i come across a site or two that truly impresses me. thesixtyone.com is one of them.

It’s a platform that allows you to discover new music and decide what’s good, built with an oh-so-beautiful and intuitive navigation. I heart it very much.
