Mental Stimulation and Happiness – Welcome to TED Talks

Whether its in our personal life, our work life or even our blog life “Anxiety”, “Recession”, “Crisis” seem to be popular topics, even if we wish it were otherwise.

A bit of positive stimulation today.

Maybe a hint of hapiness too.

If you haven’t yet come across “TED Talks – Ideas Worth Spreading” check them out here

Each week, or more often, a 10-30 minute video talk is given on a wide range of topics.

So far over 400 talks are available on the site – covering all sorts of topics from Art, through Business, CyberSpace to …. well to a world of stimulation.

It’s an eclectic mix.

To give you a little idea, here’s the Index of talks just starting with the letter “I”

I walk the Earth
Idea + square = origami
Inside the Google machine
Inspired ideas for a sustainable future
Institutions vs. collaboration
Inventing a super-kite to tap the energy of high-altitude wind
Inventing the next amazing thing
Investing in Africa’s own solutions
Is 4 a.m. the new midnight?

After our post on anxiety, it seems a good time to try to spread some happiness.

Two good talks on the topic, though from very different perpsectives are firstly by Matthieu Ricard the Budhist Monk, Scientist and Photographer, you can enjoy that here and another by the Harvard Psychologist Dan Gilbert here

The first one might lead us more to Happiness, the second explain how and why we lead ourselves away from it.

Anyway, please enjoy.  You can sign up for updates as new talks are posted as well as search the existing talks, all for free.
